Past, Present and Future

Past, Present and Future

Shri Dr Abhaybhai Firodia, President of Veerayatan, reflected on Veerayatan’s inspiring journey - from its beginnings in Bihar over fifty years ago in the pious land where Jainism had been forgotten, where Pujya Tai Ma established a powerful foundation underpinned by the pillars of service, education and spirituality, to the historic collaboration between Sadhvis and Shravaks that has shaped the organisation’s very DNA. That journey, which can be described as earth-shattering, has been guided at every stage by Pujya Tai Ma, who is no traditional sadhvi, rather one who has displayed courage, confidence, creativity, competence, contentment and compassion. She has placed importance on values rather than on tradition and sectarianism, for which she is to be congratulated. As a result, and over time, Veerayatan has expanded across India, strengthened over time through administrative reforms and regional leadership from the Sadhvi Sangh, continuing its work in education, social upliftment, and value-based initiatives.

Now, however, is the time to look to the future - to an ever-evolving society in which traditional family structures are shifting. The call is clear: to spread Jain values ever more widely - not the rituals, but the profound and timeless principles - by inspiring the youth, establishing schools wherever there is a Jinalaya, and building strong institutions nationwide. On Pujya Tai Ma’s 90th birth anniversary, the members of Veerayatan renew their commitment to advancing her far-sighted vision of compassion in action, both now and for generations to come.
