SCVP London Jain School - Start of New Term 2023/24

The buzz of children talking with each other excitedly, sharing stories of their week and plans for the weekend, adults conversing with each other and connecting with each other, the joy of the assembly with adults and children all praying together and then children walking animatedly with their friends to their respective classes all signalled the start of the new SCVP term! With the grace and blessings of Pujya Tai Ma and Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji, the new academic term started amazingly on Friday 29 September and for the first time since the pandemic we have the children’s classes in person along with the adult class and we are also continuing with online children’s classes. We also run an online sutra class every Monday and children learn all sutras with lots of enthusiasm.

Kajalben, the new Head teacher, has done a great job in bringing together teachers to conduct the in-person and online classes and ensuring all children were appropriately allocated to the relevant classes based on their ages. The classes ran smoothly and we have had good feedback from teachers and children.

The theme for the adult class this term is ‘Through Music to the Divine’ and we started off the first class with Bhakti – beautiful, meaningful and soulful stavans sung professionally by Vishita (accompanied by Punit on the tabla) and with a clear explanation of the essence of these wonderful compositions. The audience was left spellbound and were truly immersed in the bhakti.

We also started a new class, ‘Tibetan Healing and Sound Therapy’, which is very well received. Lots of positive energy has been created using sound with a number of new people joining this class.

Under the guidance of Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji, we look forward to continuing the term in the same positive manner and hope to encourage more and more people to benefit from this wonderful and spiritually uplifting experience.
