A Poetic Tribute
Sharing an Ice-cream - A Poem by Jina Sheth
Pujya Tai Ma,
She was a soul of gentle grace,
a light no time can ever erase.
In simple joys - like vanilla ice cream shared -
she showed how deeply love is cared.
Her kindness touched so many lives,
a quiet strength that still survives.
In every word, in all she did,
she lived with peace, so calm and still.
And more than words or what was said,
it was her presence that gently stayed -
moments with her would quietly flow,
and minutes would pass before we’d know.
We journeyed all the way to India, just to be near her,
to spend those precious moments with Pujya Tai Ma in Pune.
Not knowing then how deeply they would stay,
or how much those memories would mean today.
Those days now feel like a quiet blessing in time,
a gift I will carry for all of my life.
Her voice was soft, just like a feather,
so calm and soothing, in every moment together.
Joyful, playful, full of light,
she made every moment feel so bright.
She amazed me and my brother too,
speaking in English so warm and true.
She made it easy for us to speak,
and gave me comfort when I felt weak.
Though I was shy and nervous at the start,
she welcomed me with an open heart.
And every time we went to see her,
she would insist on ice cream - so she could share it with us together.
In those small, loving things she would do,
you could feel how deeply she cared for you.
Her smile is a memory I hold dear,
a gentle light that still feels near.
Especially when we gave her a small baby boy doll -
she held it with purpose, meaningful to all,
to represent Mahavir Swami, pure and bright,
at Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, a sacred sight.
The moments we shared will stay with me,
not only in memory, but quietly within what I feel.
For in her presence, time itself felt still -
and something beyond words would gently fill.
For a soul so pure never fades away,
it walks beside us every day.
Thank you, Pujya Tai Ma, for your guiding light,
for showing us how to live what is right.
May your soul rise, peaceful and free,
into eternal light and serenity.
